  Beautician and the Beast
Starring Fran Drescher and Timothy Dalton

Beauty-school teacher Fran Drescher, basically reprising her television role in The Nanny, is whisked out of Queens and deposited in Eastern Europe after she is mistaken for a science teacher. Timothy Dalton is the gruff and stilted president for life she tames with mousse and kindness. Drescher, with that inimitable voice and colorful clothing, is very funny. It is not a far stretch to compare her favorably with Lucille Ball.

  Jack
Starring Robin Williams, Fran Drescher, Diane Lane, Bill Cosby

Plagued by a condition that makes his body grow four times the normal rate, 10-year-old Jack wants more than anything to go to school like a regular kid. Though they have serious misgivings about sending their 40-year-old-appearing son to school, his parents relent and allow him to attend the fifth grade. And that's where the fun begins. Supporting cast more than holds their own against Williams' non-stop personality, and Fran Drescher is perfectly cast as the mother of Jack's best friend. Truly enjoyable for all ages.

  Jack: Soundtrack
Selections from the Movie

The whimsical accents of this delightful comedy find an echo in Michael Kamen's exhilarating score, which, most appropriately, opens here with an exuberant conga that sets the tone for the rest of the album. To illustrate this story of a 10-year-old boy who evidences the mental and emotional reactions of his age, even though, through a quirk of nature, he actually looks 40, Kamen devised cues that amusingly stress the child-like qualities of the main character, played by Robin Williams, in terms that constantly challenge the listener.

  We're Talking Serious Money
Starring Dennis Farina, Fran Drescher, Denis Arndt, Robert Costanzo

Dennis Farina stars as half of a team of would-be hustlers constantly looking for the "Big Score." They've hijacked pantyhose made in Korea that fit only 4 1/2 foot women, sold Saint Christopher medals with lips that move, and other equally unsuccessful and wacko scores. Farina gives a preview of his future "Get Shorty" comedy tour de force and the pre-"Nanny" Fran Drescher is excellent as his long-suffering girlfriend. Worth seeing more than once.

He has to sell 12 cars in 12 days (to keep his job.) He's so desperate that he even tries to pitch a sale to a widow at a funeral. As if he didn't have enough problems, the crazed husband (Tim Robbins) of one of his coworkers bursts into the car show room with an automatic weapon and takes everyone hostage.
